The world is full of contradictions, least of all when one considers cybersecurity risk management, the board and regulatory compliance. When one considers the contradictions, 98% of cyber professionals are confident in their organisations cyber-resilience. Yet 34% of respondents say cyber is treated as an IT risk; 79% of respondents felt pressure to down play the severity of cyber risk and 43% perceived as overly negative.

The Director of the FBI recently made it clear U.S CNI is at risk of cyber attack and the chair of the Congress Finance Committee made clear it that the recent UnitedHealth care cyber attack was a risk to national security. One wonders the response of the UnitedHealth board in November 2023, if you told them of the potential effects of a cyber attack on their company? You may have been asked politely to leave, and don’t come back.

This is a reason why Veritas GRC have created a board cyber program written by executives, cyber risk professionals and educators for the board room, accountable executives and CISOs. A program that lays out cyber risk management; cyber regulation; regulatory compliance, and what reasonable and adequate regulatory compliance looks like, in simple easy to understand language. That we are evaluating with boards, lawyers and audits today, ahead of its publication.
