MediSecure the Australian on-line prescription service has entered voluntary administration following the May 2024 data breach. It didn’t take long for the company to enter administration, the cyberattack was revealed on the 16th of May, on the 31st of may the company asked for the commonwealth government for financial aid to help it respond to the incident, that was denied. The company went into voluntary administration, a meeting with creditors will take place on the 14th of June.
It highlights the extent to which a cyber attack can affect an organisation. A further example of a healthcare company facing a cyber attack, with an unpleasant outcome.
