Cyber is a National Security threat, mentioned by heads of security agencies across the U.S, EU and Australia. Christian-Marc Lifländer of NATO has mentioned the need for NATO to take a proactive approach to cybersecurity several times.

A Left of Bang, proactive approach requires a radical defensive transformation to cybersecurity risk management. An approach that in part is being driven by National and industry regulators, including the U.S ONCD, SEC and EU through the U.S national cyber strategy, SEC final rule, Eu Cyber strategy and EU NIS 2 and DORA. Pushing cybersecurity risk management into the board rooms of covered entities and away from the traditional approach of cyber incident management and cyber insurance.

Cyber regulation transforms cybersecurity for the corporate sector. But it will likely take regulators to address failures in compliance (e.g. SolarWinds) before it is adopted ‘en-force’. It is an approach we developed over the past 24 months (https://lnkd.in/eT3qqnYa). An approach we integrated into our board cyber risk management education programs, with esteemed colleagues from the Legal and Audit community.
