One wonders if the UK government announced a seven fold increase in cyber attacks in 2022, what that figure looks like in 2024? recently the head of the FBI announced that China had already infiltrated critical infrastructure – such as energy, water and communications sectors.

Last week the Hon Avril D. Haines made it clear that the U.S intelligence services see cybersecurity as a significant threat. Both Russian and China are major cyber threats to the U.S and partner nations. Cyber is the most ‘pernicious trans national threats’. Ransomware cyber attacks increased 74% in 2023, with US entities the most heavily targeted. The increased frequency of cyber attacks increases the collective odds of at least one having a significant impact.

As the war escalates, how do we address the threat. Nation states themselves are only part of the problem and the solution?
