One has to agree that developing countries provide the ideal proving ground for cyber attack dry runs, ahead of deploying threats to more valuable targets in richer countries. It just makes good business sense.

Less developed countries make the ideal test bed for hackers to test products. Cyber maturity is lower than developed nations (which is not good), developing nations have even fewer cyber experts and while the financial rewards aren’t big, R&D spend is more than covered from the valuable insights that are re-engineered into the threats used against more valuable targets.

With the speed of digital adoption in Africa, opportunities for hackers is significant. It also creates opportunities for the cyber defense industry, as developing countries need to increase their cyber defenses to combat the increased threat that cyber poses.

Developing nations provide a great opportunity for the development of cyber education, cyber advisory and cyber solutions as the threat increases. Supporting nations counter the cyber threat and also gain valuable insights into cyber threats.
