South Korean defense contractors and their suppliers have been targeted by North Korean hackers over the past 18 months with increased complexity. Local media reports 83 defense companies and their contractors had confidential information stolen between October 2022 and July 2023, with come contractors unaware they were compromised, before they were informed.

This case confirms that North Korean hacking organizations have set a shared goal of stealing defense technology, and are carrying out attacks in a form of all-out war in which multiple organizations are involved, the release stated, adding that hackers are employing more elaborate and more varied methods.
