On the 27th of March the Belgium Parliaments Commission on Interior Affairs approved a draft law for NIS 2 (EU 2022/ 2055). The bill aims to fully replace the EU NIS 1 Directive in Belgium and forms part of Belgium’s Cybersecurity strategy 2.0. The NIS 2 draft will be voted on in April and published om the Belgian Official Journal ahead of the October 2024 transposition deadline and January 2025 implementation date.

It is step in the direction of increasing the scope of the original NIS 1 and the focus of on cybersecurity risk management and bringing possible corporate and individual actions on the management committees for covered Critical National Infrastructure providers.
