The consequential loses associated with the Baltimore ship incident this week will mount over the next several weeks. As those effected evaluate their insurance policies and move up and down their supply chains and evaluate compensation, and those who are not insured consider how they may best self insure against loses, and legal processes and class actions start.

One must not forget the effect of disruption caused by the failure of CNI, such as the Baltimore incident. The consequential impact will be felt for months to come, and legal outcomes that will be evaluated for years to come. The financial loses will ultimately have a definite outcome, but the non financial losses will be felt for much longer.

One hopes the incident is easily attributed to a simple cause, and not a failure due to cyber?
