The cost of the UnitedHealth hack cannot be calculated, but for sure it is going to be orders of magnitude greater than the cost of managing UnitedHealth’s cyber ‘Left and Right of Bang’. As demonstrated by the enclosed response, when one totals up the time lost to the incident.
One does not believe that you can simply apportion all the blame UnitedHealth. The company is just one, that has felt the force of a cyber attack to the detriment of its customers albeit U.S nation wide. ‘He who casts the first stone’ be warned. This hack only goes to demonstrate the issues all companies face that have not developed a cyber strategy and program, along with their digital strategy.
The question, that does not appear to have an answer is, ‘how will governments address their national cyber strategies to remediate the problem’, and quickly. With more delivery and less conversation? A reason we wrote the Augusta Plan in 2021.
If one were a betting person one would suggest that the probability of facing a cyber attack is much closer to ‘1’, than ‘0’ @Thaddeus Dziekanowski. With a deck stacked in the favor of the hacker and with the past 5 years demonstrating a house winning streak.
