Thank you for posting Olaf Classen.

The EU NIS 2 and Resilience of Critical Entities (RCE) are important EU Directives for the protection of Critical National Infrastructure(CNI) and Services. They are complex directives for EU member states to transpose into national law. But following the recent announcement that the Dutch Government has delayed the introduction of the NIS 2 Directive, the Danish Government has also taken the decision to postpose the implementation of NIS 2 and the RCE by 1 parliamentary session.

With precedence set, will other member states postpose implementation? If that is the case then postponing maybe indicative of the issues EU countries face with managing cybersecurity and the complexities of integrating these directives it into local laws. But cybersecurity risk management is a complex process and it is far better to get it right, than push through a bad law.

Both NIS 2 and the RCE require covered entities to understand their cyber and resilience risks. Demonstrating appropriate management, oversight, assurance and attestation of those risks. That is a complex and expensive process.
