A lessons learnt report by the Australian government following the 2023 HWL Ebsworth Cyber Security Incident. Demonstrating the effect of a cyber attack on the Law firm and its far reach effect on Australian public and private sector organisations. Including 62 Australian Government entities.
It focuses on the Australian Governments response to the incident. The cyber security, legal and commercial risk, and the operation of cyber incident crisis response functions; how the incident response arrangements supported decision making and information sharing; Outcomes and actions underway to enhance incident response arrangements. It did not consider cybersecuirty compliance, regulatory actions or initial technical response.
