The SEC final rule is one of the engines that drives the train for Defense contractors. The final rule requires covered entities demonstrate they can manage material cybersecurity risks and report material cyber incidents. Material cyber risks that include supply chain risks. The SEC has regulatory authority to issue significant fines for failing to comply to cyber regulations.

Covered Defense contractors need financial markets and U.S defense contractors have few choices but to comply.
