Thank you for posting Olaf Classen. A great article that summarizes the challenges nation states face with a systemic cyber attacked, that is focused on Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).
‘It’s not if, but when’ has become a mantra over the past couple of years. Highlighting that if we remain on our current trajectory a successful attack on CNI will likely occur. The effects of which could be at two extremes of the disaster scenario, or somewhere in the middle, depending upon the cybersecurity of CNI providers.
As the article discusses, a whole of society approach is required to be driven by the state, in this case the Federal Office of Information Security (BSI). To influence critical services such as law enforcement, health, energy, water, transport, food production, oil and gas.
A requirement that many nations including Germany are not yet fully prepared for.
