The Post Office scandal is being discussed as a major corporate scandal in the UK. Resulting Post Office workers being set to criminal charges, bankruptcy, fines, prison and suicides. As a result from the apparent failure of the software vendor and Post Office to build and manage a system that was not fit for purpose.
An investigator for the Post Office states that he was not technically Minded. Yet they reached conclusions that ended in prosecutions. This situation highlights the need for auditors to be technically minded, to challenge suppliers and understand the depths and breadths of IT risk.
