The real estate industry in the UK and U.S has had a bit of a battering over the past 3 months, whether it is the CTS hack affecting the UK, First America in the U.S or EDC in Denmark. The Law Society is correct in advising legal professionals to focus on improving cybersecurity. For the obvious reasons that solicitors are a concentration risk to clients information, and as the CTS hack demonstrated a concentration risk for conveyancing.

However the CTS hack was against the Solicitors Supply chain, targeting an MSP. Until Solicitors focus on their internal and external cybersecurity that includes supply chain cybersecurity, there will be little chance of law firms managing cybersecurity risk. The SEC final rule, EU NIS 2 and DORA outline the significant work that covered firm must undertake to manage cybersecurity risk, to meet regulatory compliance. A similar amount of work that law firms and their suppliers, whether they are in the UK, EU or US need to oversight, assure and attest.
