Thank you for posting Ted Dziekanowski. The geopolitical landscape, poor levels of cybersecurity risk management and negation to treat cyber security as a significant threat vector through 2023 are a few reasons why we are heading into 2024, facing a serious threat from cyber attacks. In the last quarter of 2024, the U.S and UK alone reported serious threats to their Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).

While GDPR set a foundation for data protection, 2024 will see the introduction of EU NIS 2 and DORA. Both regulations aim to improve cybersecuirty maturity across the EU block. Requiring covered entities across CNI domains and Financial Services implement cybersecuirty risk management, at the risk of boards facing civil or criminal liabilities.

The rate at which cybersecurity has been regulated in 2023 will only continue into 2024, as other nation align cybersecurity programs behind those of the EU, E.U and Australia.
