Americold is one of the worlds largest cold storage distribution companies, with over 200 storage locations across the U.S, Australia, New Zealand, China, Argentina, and Canada. The hack was highlighted back in April 2023. Affecting the personal information of Americold’s past and present employees and data relating to its operations, forcing the firm to shut down and rebuild its IT systems.

As a public firm the 6 month delay between the cyber attack in April and disclosure maybe harder to justify. The SEC final rule comes into effect this week requiring disclosure of material cyber risk and material cyber incidents to the SEC. Highlighting the current and potential material risk, that for a CNI provider such as Americold are complex and numerous.
