Ukraine’s mobile operator Kyivstar is under cyber attack, affecting most of it’s mobile operations and internet access. The company is estimated to have over 24 million mobile customers and 1 million internet users. It is suspected that the attack originated from Russian state sponsored hacking groups.

The attack further demonstrates the vulnerability of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), as many other services including emergency, air raid sirens, financial services rely on the mobile network for the operation of connected services.

The attack could be in response to a recent attack by Ukraine’s on Russia’s federal tax system. That has effected services for the past four days.
