The cyber attack on Henry Schein highlights the challenges some firms are facing with repeated cyber attacks. The company first experienced a ransomware attack in October 2023, to be ransomed a second time in November 2023. The threat actor Black Cat claimed responsibility and claimed to have re-encrypted devices after negotiations stalled in October.
Cyber is a complex risk to manage, as its a function of an organizations ability to manage cybersecurity and protect its assets. For complex organizations it can be difficult to identify the point of entry, and once inside a threat actor may set up back doors.
In this case the game of cat and mouse seems to be on-going.
