The Governor of the state of New York has allocated a budge of $500million in funding that Healthcare facilities may apply to upgrade technology systems for 2024. Healthcare is sector that with low cybersecurity posture, that has been targeted relentlessly by hackers over the years.

The New York Health Department is proposing to release cybersecurity regulations to improve the cybersecurity posture of hospitals in the state. Coming at a time when the New York Director of Financial Services recently updated its cybersecurity regulations for New York covered entities.

One expect there to be similarities between both NYDFS and the cyber regulations proposed by the health department when they are released. One has seen little divergence in U.S cyber regulations recently. With communications from ONCD, the SEC, NYDFS, DHS and CISA following similar lines of cybersecurity risk management compliance.
