NIST publishes its final guidance on EV charging cybersecurity with NIST IR 8473 Cybersecurity Framework Profile for Electric Vehicle Extreme Fast Charging Infrastructure. A further CSF profile to add to those already developed by NIST. As we wrote earlier this year CSF profiles an appropriate approach to demonstrating adequate cyber risk regulatory compliance.

NIST IR 8473 is aimed at the EV charging Eco system including power generation, distribution, cloud and the vehicle and industry that use or produce EV Fast charging services, systems and related components. The CSF profile provides one framework to support those organizations required to address cyber risk regulatory compliance, covered by the U.S SEC cyber rule and EU NIS 2.

Now NIST has issued guidance for cybersecurity risk management of the EV Eco System, a bar has in part been set for adequate compliance. Adequate cybersecurity risk management compliance that can be assessed against EU NIS 2 and the SEC final rule using NIST IT 8473. Inclusive of Governance, Risk Management and Supply Chain Risk Management.
