It’s the biggest problem we face in cyber, boards do not understand the risk, do not want to understand the risk or simply cannot get access to an appropriate conversation to discuss the risk. The enclosed is a further report highlighting the ‘material’ gap that boards have with cyber.

Chris Inglis, the first U.S National Cyber Director said that one problem with cyber was that market forces have failed to address the cyber problem. A problem that has led to cyber regulation.

Boards can of course continue to struggle with cyber risk, but U.S and EU cyber regulation is quite clear about the potential legal risks covered entities, boards and accountable executives may face. One says may, as they haven’t yet been tested by regulators, class actions, or Whistleblowers.

Board cyber risk management governance, oversight and assurance is a priority.
