Thank you for posting Ted Dziekanowski. One has always questioned the inertia of boards to address cybersecurity risk management, and these figures support the view that boards are not ready to address cybersecurity regulation. We have written many times about the challenges boards face with cyber regulation (www.augustagrp.com). Recently delivering cybersecurity risk management and regulation training to U.S Attorneys with Rachel V. Rose, JD, MBA a well respected U.S attorney (CHS healthcare).

One would say that the WSJ article is concerning, but as Dave DeWalt points out the lack of board room momentum is staggering, but one feels not unexpected. Further more many do not realize that the European Union (EU) has led cyber regulatory compliance, cyber regulation such as the EU NIS 2 and DORA dwarf the SEC final rule, and while the SEC rule requires similar cyber risk management compliance, the scope of application of EU cyber regulations is well over 100,000 companies, that includes U.S firms. Companies that are likely less prepared than U.S organizations to manage cyber in their board rooms, given recent conversations I’ve had in Europe.
