With the U.S ONCD, EU, Australia and Federal Agencies incuding the SEC, TSA, DoD and FTC amongst others, all moving forward with cyber regulation. Harmonisation and reciprocity is important.
U.S and EU market and industry regulators have chosen in general to adopt either cyber risk management regulation in the case of the NYDFS, SEC, EU NIS 2 and DORA. Or cybersecurity in the case of the DoD through a cybersecurity standard (DFARS 252.204 – 7012 and NIST SP 800-171).
As the ONCD request below demonstrates, there is a need to harmonise and create reciprocity of cyber regulatory deliverables. But not just U.S national, there needs to be harmonisation of cyber regulation and reciprocity internationally.
Earlier this year we provided our thoughts to both U.S and UK cyber law makers. Setting out why there needs to be harmonisation of cyber regulation. Our read ahead https://lnkd.in/enudJVjU outlined why harmonisation of cyber regulation is important for international trade, the cost effective implementation of cybersecurity and to enable efficient and effective collaboration between partner nations and organisations.
Harmonisation and reciprocity of cyber regulation and standards between U.S Federal Agencies is a microcosm of the broader international requirement to harmonise cyber regulations and ensure reciprocity between partner nations cyber standards.
