Small business cyber has always been an elephant in the room. SMBs/ SMEs are least likely to afford cyber; least likely to afford cyber insurance; account for over 99% of companies; they contribute the most to the supply chains security of big corporates and play a significant role in the delivery of CNI, and defense products and services.
The figures haven’t changed since Ted Dziekanowski wrote our paper on small business cyber back in 2021. Outlining the need to address the challenges of small business cyber, if governments are going to support big business cyber, corporate security, national security and economic security.

As a thought, if a company manages CUI, does it apply fewer controls to secure that information if it is a small company. Is the security of the data a function of company size? If the answer is no, then how do you support small business manage security to the levels required to secure the same data? We wrote the Augusta plan 1.0 back in 2021 to support the DoD address this problem.
