An interesting read from the WSJ on tech spending. One would hope that boards and CFOs are starting to think about security spending in parallel to IT spending. If cyber gets pushed into the board room as is expected, then finance chiefs will be required to consider regulatory compliance and legal risk, that will influence cyber and tech spending. Cyber will also transfer any resemblance of cyber spending from the CIO as boards are required to demonstrate that they are managing cyber risk.
Ted Dziekanowski, cloud will be an interesting issue for CFOs to wrestle with, as several recent report highlight challenges with could adoption, levels of cloud security and challenges with data management across cloud, on-prem and hybrid.
One suspects that planned cyber regulations will create a headache for both cloud, data management and security. That unlike IT will place a level of legal risk on board members, that needs to be fully considered.
