There’s allot of cash in the system looking for opportunities, as recent stalls in the market have left Private Equity, Venture Capital and Family Offices with plenty of cash, just looking for the next big move. Maybe AI, maybe Cyber, maybe environmental with electric cars and EV.

One thing is certain for investors however, cyber regulation is going to make board composition a rather interesting challenge for investors and the markets. If the SEC proposal moves ahead then boards of covered entities will be required to demonstrate their cyber knowledge and experience to regulators, and seek the input of an experienced cyber advisors. Other considerations will include the effects of cyber risk regulation on industry sectors directly and indirectly through supply chain security.

PE, VC and Family offices have to consider the M&A process. There are several cases where deals to acquire companies have resulted in organizations acquiring hackers as part of the deal (Marriott). As yesterdays post about the concerns raised by the BoA to Lloyds about cyber insurance. Lenders are worried about the affects of cyber on loan capital, IP and residual value and with cyber insurers struggling to manage the risk, what risk mitigation options are available to corporate buyers?

One option is staff up their own teams with cyber advisors to support the acquisition process, and demonstrate to regulators that they themselves have the appropriate knowledge and experience.
