Could the recent release of the White House ONCD cyber strategy have started the cyber ball rolling and provided the umbrella to drive forward other regulations? (https://lnkd.in/dw2rN_Gv).

The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee met to discuss cyber threats facing the healthcare sector and the laws and regulations requiring CNI providers including health care to report incidents. At present the healthcare sector is facing a disproportionate number of cyber attacks, affecting patient safety, requiring CNI providers to share threat intelligence, evaluate and manage known vulnerabilities and report incidents to CISA to enable better industry coordination.

The committee highlighted the shortage of security talent and lack of prescriptive security practices to raise the security posture of healthcare organizations. Referencing the recent release by the Health Sector Coordinating Councils (HSCC) working group and the U.S Department of Health and Human Services of a Cybersecurity Framework Profile for Healthcare and Public Health Sectors.

One suspects that now the U.S National cyber strategy is out, we will see more regulation across CNI and a drive towards the adoption of CSF profiles as a baseline cybersecurity standard.
