This week I presented at DSEI Japan on the topic of Cybersecurity Risk Management regulation, and its impact on the global Defence Industry Base (DIB). Regulation that includes DoD Defence Federal Acquisition. Regulation (DFARS/ CMMC), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and European Regulation.

I have enclosed a brief summary of the presentation, outlining the regulation, the known regulatory enforcement regimes and the actions DIB organizations should be considering to meet regulatory commitments.

Cyber regulatory programs are developing quickly in the U.S and EU. The DoD DFARS regime has been in place since 2017 and is developing further with CMMC. As important for Defense Primes is the SEC proposal for Cybersecurity Risk Management, that sets out the requirements for boards to manage, oversight and assurance cyber, to inform the SEC of their individual cyber expertise and report the organizations cyber polices, procedures and compliance to cyber risk management. A proposal that is expected to be released in H1 2023.
