So 2023 looks to be an interesting year for cyber, as cyber attacks ratchet up. This is a good article that outline some of the issues that we may see in 2023.

The big one for me is the ‘Lack of investments, preparedness and resilience’ due to governments or business’s adequately preparing for cyber, and the reliance on third parties suppliers who are in the same boat.

Then follows ‘Evolving geopolitical environment’ as a cyber arms race gets underway enforce. We have seen a rise in cyber attacks from the start of 2023, targeting CNI in the U.S, UK and EU. Coupled with the lack of preparedness, creates a wave of challenges for government and business.

The final one, is regulation. The response to the issues we face, and the failure of market forces to address the problem is regulation and the U.S and EU are driving a range of regulations forward in 2023. But we have to make sure that there is harmonisation between the EU and U.S with cyber regulations, frameworks and standards or we are at risk of impacting global trade.
