Insurers are starting to come to terms with cyber being a risk that they cannot insure, without the insured taking on more of the risk. We wrote about this in 2022, at the time saying that cyber was not an economically insurable risk, offering up some solutions to address the problem for both the insurer and the insured. Parrel to this regulators are moving to implement cybersecurity risk management regulations. Including the EU through NIS 2.0 and DORA, the Securities and Exchange Commission and ONCD. 2023 looks to have got off to a good start for cybersecurity risk management, insurance and regulation.
