The healthcare sector and front line Critical National Infrastructure is a target for threat actors. In the case of healthcare providers such as the hospitals in Brooklyn, who are less able to afford cybersecurity. They make a easy target and affect members of society who cannot look after themselves and rely on their services.

It is very difficult for hospitals like those in Brooklyn to provide cybersecurity risk management without government intervention. But it is possible to provide the appropriate infrastructure to protect them, you just have to get them off their own networks and get them and their data into secure infrastructure. But that costs money, but it maybe money well spent. Better the money comes from Government, than goes to nation state threat actors, terrorism or cyber criminals.

Why should we not treat health data (all CNI data) as a CNI commodity, as should do with energy, water, oil and gas? Healthcare is a CNI sector, its’ just that some healthcare providers need a little help and support protecting it, that could be helped along by congress?
