A great read to start the week. MITs assessment of cybersecurity defence assessing cyber defence across the 20 largest and digitally forward economies globally. Assessing critical infrastructure, cybersecurity resources, organizational capacity, and policy commitment.

The result show some surprises with Australia, Netherlands, South Korean, U.S and Canada at the top of the league, with their commitments to cyber policy, legislation, standards and frameworks and enforcement. The rest of the EU is under ‘must do better’, and Mexico, India, Brazil, Turkey and Indonesia ‘working towards’.

The Cyber Defense Index(CDI) is an interesting view on cybersecurity confident, legislation, capability and delivery. With MIT surveying 1,000 executives with cyber responsibility across the countries. It presents a picture based on confidence of cyber defensive capabilities, regulation, funding and delivery. As we have said for a long time cyber requires defensive capabilities to complement governments offensive strategies.

Are there any thoughts? Personally I’m surprised the UK is so high, we have no cyber legislation, we have no defensive cyber strategy and the UKs cyber standards raise many questions?
