Cyber is not as big a concern in the Fall 2022 as it was in Spring 2022 for the Federal reserve. As the economic challenges everyone is facing, drive financial stability.

However the Federal reserve is concerned by the short term impact that cyber attacks have on the stability of the finance system particularly if transmission is amplified by other vulnerabilities.

What is interesting is the report makes reference to ‘Traditional mitigants such as capital and liquidity may need to be supplemented by other interventions to limit the systemic effects of cyber shocks.’ An indication that capital and liquidity alone will not address the challenges.
