It’s becoming a crowded space, cyber regulation. The Federal Communications Commission(FCC) being the latest U.S regulator to look at cybersecurity. One could argue that with our dependency on digital communications, digital hardware and software the FCC is also well place to effect change.
The FCC is focusing on a range of cybersecurity regulations including certifying the U.S national Emergency Alert system for cybersecurity, embedding cybersecurity in digital hardware (IoT) announced by the White House in October and examining CISA regulations and how they can be extended for use across the telecommunications industry.
The FCC also recently launched a broad-reaching inquiry into the vulnerabilities threatening the security and integrity of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), that is central to the functionality of the internet.
