International collaboration and harmonization is required if we are to manage cybersecurity and fight cyber crime. Various security services work together nationally and internationally on offensive cyber and have done for many years. But we lack global harmonisation of cybersecurity risk management defensive programs, where they exist.
Cyber regulatory programs are being developed by numerous nation states, that will have a significant impact on the private sector. Creating regulations that operate different cybersecurity requirements, with little clarity over how oversight and assurance will be implemented or agreed between partner nations. The lack of cybersecurity harmonisation will have an impact on national and international security and international trade. As nations chose the most secure partners with which to trade and share critical data.
This can be addressed by creating common and agreed cyber frameworks and standards, adopting shared responsibility models. By using the common criteria model, cybersecurity framework profiles embedded into trade agreements and international cooperation for the oversight of cyber security, harmonisation can be achieved
In the Augusta Plan 3.0 we discuss in brief an approach for the harmonisation of cybersecurity regulation and the adoption of cybersecurity framework profiles to set common agreed baselines for cybersecurity, to facilitate nation sovereignty and national security. Using existing and internationally agreed mechanisms. (https://lnkd.in/enfYu2nz).
