Thank you Christine Janesko and The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. for considering me as the Expert for your August edition. Cybersecurity regulation is developing internationally and cybersecurity risk management are significant challenges ahead for many companies. The role of the internal audit as the ‘Third line of Defence’ is critical in providing Senior management with the necessary oversight, assurance and attestation of cybersecurity and risk management, required by regulators.

Alongside regulation comes regulatory enforcement. Enforcement that can have corporate financial penalties for organisations and personal penalties for its management.
