The SEC’s risk agenda takes another step forward considering a proposal to mandate climate-risk disclosures by public companies. Focusing on the material impact of climate change, recognizing that climate risks can pose significant financial risks to companies. Aiming to bring a level of standardised reporting of climate change risk disclosure and reporting for investors.

The proposed rules would require disclosures on Form 10-K about a companys governance, risk management, and strategy with respect to climate-related risks

The burden of risk management, risk based decision making and risk based reporting in the board room of public firms is increasing. Requiring a clear understanding of materiality and an organisation structure able to assess and assure risk through risk based governance, frameworks and assessment methodology.
