Germanies Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is recommending that Russian information technology business could be a source of both information and a platform for cyber attacks and they should be replaced.

The BSI recommends Kaspersky anti-virus products are replaced with alternatives – but carefully, to avoid weakening defences. In 2017 both the Us and UK governments moved to either ban or recommend replacing Kaspersky. Kaspersky denies any connection with the Russian state government and that its products are a risk.

Given the current war and the heavy sanctions focused on Russia is the advice justified?
