The German business unit of Denso reported a cyber attack last week. It is the second confirmed cyber incident of a supplier to Toyota in the past month. While there are no report of disruption to Toyota production, one suspects that Toyota and its supply chain are being targeted. Little more is known.

Cyber – Supply Chain Risk Management (C-SCRM) is effective at disrupting JIT supply chains in tiers further down the industry base of prime contractors, where cybersecurity risk management is often poor. Manufacturers sit on a double edged sword, on one side the attacker may steal valuable Intellectual Property (IP) on the other ransomware both IP and shop floor technology. In both cases the cost are significant.
