The enclosed white paper summarises the Department of Defence Instruction (DoDI) 5000.90 ¢â‚¬Å“Cybersecurity for Acquisition Decision Authorities and Program Managers¢â‚¬Â.‚  Released by the DoD on the 30th December 2020 establishing cybersecurity risk management policy, procedures, oversight and assurance for Weapon System Decision Authorities (DA) and Program Managers (PM), across the DoDs acquisition process. It represents an intention to apply cyber risk management practices to the DIB. Giving DAs and PMs the authority and tools to make cybersecurity risk based procurement decisions, aligned to FISMA and the DoDs RMF programme.

For members of the DIB, understanding the tools the DoD has available to use to oversight and assure cyber risk enables an efficient and effective relationship. At a time when the DoD develops further its SCRM and cyber programs and implements restrictions on contract awards. When there is a significant shortage of skilled cyber and risk management resources in the market.

It also represents a 1 day training module, sitting along side NIST SP 800-171 and others, which we will be releasing over the next 4 months. Written by trainers who deliver cyber, risk and audit training to the DoD, Federal Government, and US Commercial market.
