The Australian Prime Minster has gone public saying that the country is being targeted by ‘state based cyber hacks’. Targeting all all levels of government and putting everyone on notice that these attacks are a threat and everyone should be aware and prepared for disruption. The attacks are widely believed to be originating from China, a country known to have the capabilities to launch large scale cyber attacks and one which has a record of ex-filtrating sensitive data from a wide range of companies for economic advantage.

Saying that state level attacks are not unusual, US municipalities have been under attack for years. But the scale and number of attack being reported is rising.
