The cyber security market is bulging with products and services. So why do we continue (and will continue) to suffer successful cyber attacks, on such a large scale (there is no simple answer)? But……..

I see many cases where the attacker made plenty of ‘noise’. But they were not detected, for many reasons. There were plenty of tools to identify issues, but they were not deployed properly. Obvious red signals were missed, hidden in the mass of inappropriately measured logs. The wrong decisions were made, due to the mass of data which created confusion, leading to inaction. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

So beware, I think there are plenty of instruments available, to use in the cockpit. To help us understand and control the aircraft and to travel in the right direction.

But, do we have the skills necessary to interpret the instruments to make the most appropriate decisions?
