Georgia is currently suffering a major cyber incident, which has impacted over 2000 websites, government infrastructure, NGOs, private businesses and TV stations Medi and Maestro, as well as a number of newspapers.
Attacks on this scale bare the marks of geopolitical hackers working on infrastructure. Concerns have been raised in the country that the attacks resemble those previously carried out during the 2008 Russian Georgian war. (https://lnkd.in/eqvbnbX).
It also comes at a time when there is uncertainty about the roll-out of Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI). A system which aims to protect global networks from BGP takeover.
