The Australian government is reaching out to get views and input to its cyber security strategy for 2020. A number of controversial ideas are raised. With a greater emphasis begin placed upon the role of industry for cyber risk management. A plan to increase cyber regulation in 2020, focusing on consumer data protection and cyber standards, which is of no surprise given the US focus on cyber standards, board responsibility and accountability. Industry maybe required to fund the Australian governments cyber capacity.

These are controversial ideas as they review the liabilities between consumers, industry and government. In part accepting that the responsibility for the management of cyber security has to be weighted toward that of industry and government, away from the consumer. With industry playing a great role in funding cuber security compliance across the country.
