The Australian Prudential Regulator Authority has placed cyber security and resilience as one of its top 4 priority areas in the latest release of its Financial Stability strategy for 2019 – 2023. This comes after it released its Prudential standard for information security, CPS 243 back in July this year.(https://lnkd.in/e3rXM9V)
The APRA aims to increase oversight and assessment of cyber resilience for covered entities. Enforcing the standards set out in CPS 234, improve regulatory collaboration globally and improve incident response and planning. It is an example of a global financial services regulator developing and enforcing cyber related regulation, which can only be a good thing for financial stability globally.
