You cannot abdicate the responsibility for security to a third party. As we all know, cloud is generally just another managed service, someone else’s computer in another location. You still have to secure your data, yourself.

Historically alot of cloud providers wouldn’t allow their clients to conduct in depth testing of their infrastructure.

I was always taught,
1. Know your crown jewels and keep them close.
2. Only give services to someone else that you can afford to lose. Until it’s a proven service.
3. Be careful of the value proposition, it may not contain the worst case scenario figures, as they don’t make the figures add up.

Cyber is proving to be a costly and changing business. What may have been considered low probability is no longer the case.
