Quote. ‘The internet, born of a dream of universal connectivity and ready access to the knowledge of ages, has succeeded both for better and for worse. It ties the world together in many good ways, but it has also become a broad avenue for theft, hatred, lies, ignorance and subversion.’

An interesting article if you want to know a little about the history of Conflicker, maybe a pre-cursor to WannaCry and NotPetya, how it was identified, tracked and stopped. Following work done by the FBI and cyber researchers.

‘Conflicker’ was an attack which got out of control and pulled away from its creators. What was created as a means to make money got to big, to quickly and ran out of control. What is bought out in the article is that cyber crime is ever-evolving, that it has the potential to run quickly and wild.

With nation states actively participating in digital warfare the concern raised here is one about cyber warfare rather than cyber crime. With Cyber Warfare being considerably more dangerous to us all.
