A great commentary by Nate B. Jones on the state of AI, the winners and the losers in the AI race. Fundamentally, when AI will commoditise much of what we do, are there any spaces between model makers and people, where model makers won’t take up the space?

As the build layer collapses, where are the niches you can operate in that AI cannot replace? What do you do when AI can build your business for you? What do you do when everyone else is using AI to build their business models? When all that exists is UIs built on someone else’s model, what differentiates you from your competition?

Your moat is as deep as the time it takes to replicate the UI.

Train your own models in your domain, if it’s unique, to add value. ‘Own something structural, that model providers can’t replicate’. This is where the opportunity to develop solutions that AI finds hard to replicate, that’s beyond the data that AI consumes from the web. You build solutions from data that’s not consumed. You build models that require the consumption of knowledge and experience and are shaped through ontological frameworks to add value, to demonstrate trust and add value

When everything to build a company becomes a commodity, the next generation of successful companies will be those that can demonstrate trust. For business processes, move to a place where AI cannot easily replicate your process, or the value you create, where complexity creates quality, efficiency, and issues with trust.

AKA cybersecurity internal audit assurance.
