Yes, cybersecurity requires promotion; yes, cybersecurity requires UK businesses to adopt the right tools to manage cyber risk. But this is like politely asking you to put up a picket fence when your neighbours have erected a 10-meter-high barbed wire fence.
One can appreciate that asking nicely is an option, but let’s face it, no one really cares about making change unless there’s a top and bottom line benefit. There’s a reason why the US DoW introduced CMMC, and 27 EU member states regulated CNI under NIS2. Let’s face it, the UK Cyber Resilience Bill has all the hallmarks of a Swiss Emmental cheese, when all we had to do was copy what the EU has done and go for the 10-meter-high barbed wire fence.
Cyber risk transfer requires clear, concise, and bold programs. As bold as the threat the UK industry faces from threat actors. As bold as those regulations set forth by our partners.
